Why Graduates Should Consider Events Management

Graduation season is in full throttle! Commencement speeches are conducted and shared on social media filled with words of encouragement, positive accolades and advice from thought leaders in various industries. Resumes are being carefully crafted with the hopes of landing that first “real-job!”

So the question is asked by many graduates (and also by their parents)—where are the jobs and in what industry?

In a recent report on career opportunities, U.S. News & World Report ranked Event Planning in the Top 50 Careers across all professions. The U.S. Department of Labor Statistics estimates a 10 percent increase in meeting, convention, and event planners jobs by 2024 (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook 2016-17 Edition, Meeting, Convention, and Event Planners).

According to the report, “Given the fast pace of growth in the industry and the scarcity of quality educational programs, career opportunities are now abundant. The limited availability of qualified event planners is driving demand and annual salaries to new highs.”

The report also says as globalization increases and businesses continue to recognize the value of professionally planned meetings, demand for meetings and events is projected to grow and, at a faster rate than other types of jobs.

T3 Expo is always excited to see event coordinator or meeting/convention planners jobs at the top of the list. Since our inception in 2009, we have witnessed 2015 being the biggest year for growth in our industry. And for these reasons, we continue to see new positions in our industry sprout particularly fast.

We have also seen an increase in the tradeshow industry where there is a convention for anything and everything! There are conventions from books to beer; there is Fitcon and Cookiecon, Paranoiacon and ComicCon. There are funeral shows, and even tradeshows for tradeshows. All of a sudden, everybody’s got a show. As a result, the market and job openings continue to explode.

At T3 Expo everyone is an Eventineer too. What is an Eventgineer? Each T3 Expo employee is empowered to raise the bar for the industry and for our customers through the incorporation of their own creative thinking, innovations, implementations of their unique strengths, and to making the event/tradeshow experience memorable and sharable for customers.

Graduates need to live their dreams, and find work that will bring a sense of purpose and quality of life. Why not take a look at the events industry. Why not take a look at T3 Expo!
