I really like your differentiation in what the smaller GSC can offer compared to the large GSCs. It's a great analogy. And the overhead costs the big GSCs have don't just stop at their inventory; my company is finding they have spent hundreds of thousands if not millions on systems to support their services. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on whether our online ordering solution would benefit the smaller guy too as a competitive differentiator at a lower cost compared to what the GSCs have done custom?

This past year was my first year and I thought overall it was really good. I just wish that I would have had more educational Sessions to attend. Yea, Im one of those who cant gain enough knowledge, especially about something that I am so passionate about! Im also only a year into this industry and am fairly new so I expected classes that would just blow me out of the water and unfortunately that didn't happen. Did they forget about the younger women and men as myself? Maybe they should have a class especially for newer people in the business.. But I still learned, networked with great people, including Nate Derby, and met tons of good leads on software and so forth that we want.. Now Nate, I have a little business to discuss with you about a show we are putting on. Email me at rayna@hylandmedia.com or better yet send me a message confirming that you got my friend request and we will talk.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the response. You are correct, we did not have a link back to our website and about us (it is now up).

I am one of the founding members of T3 Expo, after serving the past 15 years as CFO at Champion Exposition Services. We went on our own because we felt the trade show general contractor has to be more vested in the success of an event and not just a service provider.

Time and again, we heard exhibitors and show managers say, in many different ways, that economic return was not being realized. While we know we are a cog in the wheel and not the entire wheel, we understand that we have a mission to do everything we can, from new pricing models, products and services to deliver the best possible return from the GSC to the event in which we are part of.

We are very excited about the opportunity we have to help change our industry. Come see us at IAEE's Expo! Expo!

Great post. It sent my mind scrambling about how to reinvent the tradeshow and event experience. Lots to ponder.

How about telling us a little more about you? I can't find any information on your blog about the author or your company? Just wanting to know more. Thanks.

Finally! It is a welcome change to recognize an organization trying to crack the code on customer need and value in/on Trade Show experiences to consistently elevate said experience year over year (rather than the short sighted goal of adjusting data to sell space for the next year). I appreciate the courage it takes to address the elephant in the room circa 1971 and taking the view "what can we change for the better, for everyone" instead of the "that's just the way it is" mentality that has created a fog of inertia and malaise in this vital industry. I am behind you.
